Somatic Spill

Somatic Spill involves multi-bulbous forms that range from large to small. Each piece connects as one fits into another's aperture. These porcelain objects are placed in a irregular arrangements, curving in various directions. They are placed on the surface of glass puddles of deep red bubbling pools. With further examination, these forms appear to be penetrating each other, depicting the remains of a curious collision. Like a corporeal spill discovered in a public space, this work suggests circumstantial evidence of an unknown occurrence. My intention is to compel the viewer to navigate around the scene, challenging personal boundaries of public display and private spectacle. Making this piece, I became intrigued with the interplay of repulsion and attraction and the ambiguous tension that generates to demand an individual internal resolution.
